Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a drill: Instagram is now notifying people when you screenshot their dumb pics so you can make fun of them in a group chat later.
For one thing, the user will only be notified if you screenshot a disappearing photo or video, according to Buzzfeed. Disappearing photos or videos are a new Instagram feature that’s basically a Snapchat ripoff as per usual.
But now that IG is notifying people of those screenshots, we’d say it’s only a matter of time before they start notifying users of any screenshots.
So if you see something truly idiotic on someone’s Instagram Story, you might as well play it safe and screenshot it the old-fashioned way: by making your friend hold their phone above yours and take a photo.
Now let’s all sit back and wait for the next digital innovation Instagram will come up with to make us all look like stalkers.
