Hunter Daily Salomon Is Bringing Sweetness & Spice to Her New EP
Galore sat down with beachy blonde bombshell singer-songwriter Hunter Daily Salomon to chat about what influences her music, which Powerpuff Girl she is, and her upcoming EP.
How long have you been a musician?
I’ve been singing my whole life, but it wasn’t really until high school that I realized music was going to be my career choice. That this is what I’m passionate about and what I want to do.
How would you describe your sound right now?
I would say I have a very soulful and sweet sound. My voice is very sweet. It’s definitely pop still, but with soulful, groovy vibes.
Your video for “You and Me” is very LA. Does Los Angeles influence your music?
I was born and raised in LA, so the city is always gonna have an influence in my music. For that video especially, I definitely got that influence. We shot all over LA.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on my new EP right now! I’m really excited for that to come out. I’m working with some amazing people like Scott Storch, a legend. I’m really thankful to be working with him. It’s gonna be really cool.
Can you spill any deets or is it still very secret?
Right now it’s very under wraps! We have a working title but it’s in the process still. I hope to have it out sometime next year!
What type of topics are you going to cover?
I write about my life experience and hardships, stuff I’ve gone through. It has a lot to do with myself, boy stuff, friendships, my life growing up, maturing, all that stuff.
Who are your icons?
My mom! She’s awesome. She’s always empowering me to do my own thing and be my own person and go for what I want. Other than that, Amy Winehouse. She’s a legend and she always says her truth and I want to take that into my music.
So we know that your mom was the voice of Buttercup on The Powerpuff Girls. Did you watch that a lot growing up?
Obviously. Honestly, I’m more of a Bubbles. She is Buttercup. But I think she’s more of a Blossom personality wise. My sister Tyson is more Buttercup — she’s feisty. I’m definitely Bubbles: bubbly and sparkly.
What do you think about “sugar and spice and everything nice”? Do you identify with that?
100%. Spice is good. You need a little bit of spice. I have a strength in me that’s my spice. I’m very determined, very motivated. I’m not gonna let things I want slip away from me. I’m feisty like that.
What’s your sign?
Pisces, March 13. I completely identify with Pisces. We’re very go with the flow, easy to get along with. And we’re dreamers, super creative. I’m always wanting to create.
Dream collab?
On stage, I think Madonna would be cool. She’s such an icon. Or Britney. I saw her perform at iHeartRadio music festival and she killed it. I would also love to work with DJs like Flume and Chainsmokers.
