Makonnen just released a new song with Lil B called “Can’t Let it Go,” and it’s good enough to distract from any Coachella FOMO or hangover you may have been experiencing for the past few days.
The singer, who first became famous when Drake co-signed him on his track, “Tuesday,” has just ditched his label agreement with OVO, according to Billboard.
“I cannot thank OVO, 40, Oliver, Future & Mr. Morgan, enough for all that they have done for my career. No words can express how much I appreciate Drake for being a part of the success of “Tuesday,” Makonnen said in a statement addressing the matter. “I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on Warner Bros Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest. Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER.”
Here’s “Can’t Let it Go,” a song that takes the best part of pop-genre melodies, and adds just enough of Makonnen and Lil B’s oddball brand to make a track that leaves Coachella in the dust of last weekend’s vaguely familiar EDM songs.
