You are a bad gal known for your prowess, unparalleled delivery, irresistible beats, and refreshing voice. I actually first came across your work with “DND” when you performed at VFiles, I think it was a few months ago, and you gagged everyone with that track. For those of us not in the know, who is Leaf?
I’m just a girl from Brooklyn if I’m being honest, but I’m also a Dream Girl, you know, pursuing my dreams, living my dream life and I’m just welcoming you to come join me.
Thank you! What sets this project apart from your previous work?
It’s definitely a very different sound from what I put up before, it’s much more pop. I’m actually working with my producer on two different sounds right now, one is called jisco so it’s like Jersey club and disco and then the other one is hyper drill so like hyper pop mixed with sexy drill. It’s like a little bit different but we bringing different vibes to the city.
I can’t wait to hear it! Actually, I heard a little bit of it while you were shooting and I was giving a little shoulder shimmy, you know what I’m saying, so I’m ready for it to drop so we can all enjoy it together. What was it like working with Baby Tate on Picky?
She’s a sweetheart, I love her so much, she’s so talented, so gorgeous so it was exciting honestly because I love her music so super exciting to meet her and for her to be just as everything in person
And I get the impression that you’re a girl’s girl, she’s a girl’s girl so it must’ve been like vibes on set for sure.

You have also collaborated with Lil Yachty, Bandmanrill, DJ Drewski, TroyBoi, iamsou!, and Action Bronson. Who is an artist you would like to collaborate with in the future ?
I’m really lucky that on this project I’m getting to collaborate with everybody that I love. This is coming out, when the project drops, so I can drop the names, but Cash Cobain I’m really excited that I’m doing a song with Lay Bankz. I’m really excited because this is like my playlist.
I do have a question about that in here. OK what is the playlist vibes giving?
It’s a lot of jersey club, but on some melodic jersey club. I love what Lay Bankz does ‘cause she sings R&B over Jersey Club. I love sexy drill, I’m sexy drill to death. Like I’m listening to Monte, I’m listening to Cash, I’m listening to everything.
I also love melodic rap, so I’m listening to A Boogie, the New York staples, I listen to drill. I also do listen to a lot of pop and hyper pop like Sabrina Carpenter. I listen to FLO, the group from the UK. It’s eclectic but it’s a vibe.

I love the selection of music, but you’re giving me a lot of English selections. Mami you’re Bori, what’s the selection for the sazón?
You know that when I’m in Puerto Rican, all I’m listening to is Bad Bunny, Karol G, but then I get a little Young Chimmy, some Anuel, all the best stuff. I can throw it back and play some Tego Calderón.
I’m loving every genre you’re giving me in this playlist.
At this point it’s multiple playlists, you feel me.
And I can’t wait to listen to them all. Okay what is your dream summer as a dream girl, what is it because you were saying earlier you’re taking us on this journey?
Like a professional dream, I want to accomplish all of my goals, but as far as like the dream summer with my girls I’m by the pool or outside by the beach, we sipping tequila and rosé, we looking cute. Maybe a cute fine man comes and pursues us, that’s my dream summer for now.

I love that, a little boo thing, a little pookie for the summer. OK three things in your bag. What do you need to have in your bag?
I always need to have my phone, my lip gloss and my lash glue. I wear the strip lashes, just because wear so many looks, but I’ve gotten really good.
How do you prepare to experience this dream summer? You’re not gonna just gonna pop out and show out, right, like Kendrick said, but you know you have to prep a little bit so how do you do that?
For me this summer I’m really taking care of my health and taking care of mental health. I’m really like a spa girl, I love a spa day, I love a relaxation day. I love the at home skin care regimen, the twenty- step routine, having my favorite snack, mine is chocolate. I definitely prepared, this winter I hibernated to be ready to pop out this summer.
You mentioned having a song about getting scooped up by the fellas, the song Dream Summer, what makes someone an ideal guy for you an ideal candidate?
I have the typical stuff for me. For one, communication, someone who can communicate is really important to me. Someone that is thoughtful, I really am a thoughtful person so I need to be with a thoughtful person. I’m the type of person that if you say “when I was five I liked to eat this type of candy and it used to make me really happy” like I’m gonna gift you that candy.
I’m going to need someone that’s intentional, thoughtful and has a good memory, because I don’t have the best memory. Other than that, I guess someone who is a vibe.

We get picky, what are your likes and dislikes? Like Lay Banks says, your “ick”?
I hate when somebody feels like they have to belittle you in order to educate you, you know what I mean. Like if I have information for somebody I’m never gonna belittle them. I’m always gonna explain it to them in a nice way and I feel like sometimes, some men feel like they have to “man-xplain”. My man, my dream summer man would never talk to me like that. That’s one ick.
Number two, someone that’s mean to other people, I don’t like someone that’s mean to other people. Like if we are in a restaurant and you are rude to the waiters, you’re embarrassing us both. Your reputation and my reputation is important so be nice to people.
I like when a guy can dress, but I wouldn’t say that’s the most important thing to me. If I can feel comfortable with him dressing me too.
You want a Kanye?
I would take a Kanye, if I’d never have to dress myself ever again I would be happy, and if it was stuff I’d like to wear.
What are your favorite summer looks?
This summer I’m definitely wearing a lot of pink, a lot of bows, a lot of coquette stuff, Lolita vibes. I’ll put some street wear up there too.
Last question: what is your sign and how do you feel like that influences your artistry?
I’m an Aries and I’m honestly not like a normal Aries, I’m mad chill. It takes me a long time to get angry. I have a lot of earth and air placements. What about you?
I’m a Leo, with a Pisces moon and a Leo rising.
Okay nice, I actually really get along with Leo risings. A lot of my home girls have Leo risings, I get along with Leo risings because I’m a Capricorn rising. Your rising is in my 7th house and my rising is in your 7th house. Leo risings work really well in friendships for me.
