Summy gives us an exclusive on her video premiere for her debut single, “Sus”
Summy is an American singer-songwriter from Mesa, Arizona. Growing up, Summy had a strong passion for music, and at age 15 she moved out on her own to Los Angeles, California to pursue her singing career.

Earlier this year, Summy released her first single, “SUS,” and she is preparing to release even more new music at the end of the Summer. Now, Summy has a music video for her debut single, and she’s excited to be premiering it here with us!

Congratulations on your debut video, “Sus.” Can you tell us about the inspiration behind it?
Thank you so much! I’m so excited to finally share this with the world – it’s been a long time coming! “Sus” is basically about trust issues in modern day relationships. Love is complicated, and it comes with a lot of jealousy and confusion.
How are you different than the other musicians out there right now?
I don’t go out of my way to be “different.” I make music about my life experiences. I want to be there for the people going through things I’ve gone through.
Where do you gather your inspiration from?
All of my songs come from real life situations and things that have happened to me. I think it’s important to really feel your music, and I show that in my work.
A dream collaboration?
Frank Ocean. He has the most beautiful way of describing his personal experiences lyrically, and he takes his time on his vocals and production. He refuses to put anything out there that is mediocre, and I really respect that as an artist.
What’s next for you?
I’ve been in the studio. I have a new single that I’ll be releasing very soon.
If you didn’t have music in your life what would you be doing?
Occupation wise, I would be in college studying to become a neurosurgeon. Mentally, I wouldn’t be in a very good place. Music has helped me through the toughest times in my life.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Always get it in writing” (laughs).
