FEATURED INTERVIEW:

TELL US YOUR INSPIRATION FOR GETTING INTO SONGWRITING

So, my inspiration for getting into songwriting, I think, came from poetry and from expressing how I feel and see the world. I’ve always been captivated by storytelling, I love stories. Yet songwriting for other people was something that kind of found me. It was a beautiful door that opened up that I wasn’t expecting and taught me how much, you know, it’s important to get to know myself and other people. And that’s what songwriting has been, just ways of finding more about who I am in the world.

WHAT SONG HAVE YOU WRITTEN THAT HOLDS A SPECIAL PART IN YOUR HEART?

Every song I work on holds a special place in my heart. The intention behind every song that I’m writing is that I am present during the moment and anytime that I feel present, anywhere, is so special to me. What I’m writing about, how I’m feeling in that moment, it’s very, very intentional. And maybe one that people have connected with that I think is beautiful, I think it’d be “Carne y Hueso” by TINI. That song was very special, and we cried a lot during the session then the song came out and people connected with it. My next single is also a very special song and I can’t wait for the world to hear it.

WHAT WAS THE FIRST SONG THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST

“Jenny from the Block,” for sure. JLo played a big part of me feeling myself in music.

WHAT SONG CURRENTLY ON THE RADIO WOULD WE BE SURPRISED TO KNOW YOU HAVE WRITTEN

I think “De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta” by Daddy Yankee and Marc Anthony is always a song that I get the reaction of like oh you’re in that song? It’s still on the radio in Miami and it’s cute.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AS A MUSICIAN

Well, I started performing professionally here in Miami at different bars when I was 18. It’s crazy to look back on because was still a minor to be working in these places, but I was being taken care of, the musicians in the bands had been doing this for many, many years and helped watch over me. One gig led to the other, and then, you know, as I was making music, live music, I was also living and being a person in this world and getting to know myself and who I wanted to be, what type of music I wanted to create. Performing live played a part in helping me understand myself, you know, of finding me. And then a producer found me, and I started writing. In the studio, the first time I ever heard myself in the studio, I was 22. So it’s usually the other way around, like you start in the studio and then you perform, but for me it was the other way around. I’m very appreciative of that because I acknowledge both worlds and I love that they go hand to hand, but they’re so different as well. Different part of me.

WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY RITUAL EVERY MORNING

Kisses from my dog, are very important. I think cuddling with my dog in the mornings is my favorite part of the day. Cold water for my face and a glass of water to drink. It used to be a cigarette, but I don’t smoke anymore. What else? I don’t really have breakfast in the mornings. I think cuddling with my dog, calling someone I love, cold water in my face, nice prayer affirmation, and preparing for my day sum it up.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ONE MUSICIAN, WHO WOULD IT BE?

Post Malone. I’m such a big fan. He’s so inspiring to me a real rock star.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?

I’m working on my album, and we have a single coming soon. The next song is very, very special to me. I’m also acting in the video for the song and it’s my first time doing that. Like it’s more of a cinematic side of my project. And yeah, we’re just putting out songs that are going to eventually bring the album later this year. A lot of performances as well, live performances, and collaborations.
