DYSN Is About to Take Over the Music Industry & Our Hearts
DYSN’s highly anticipated debut album Wonderland was released earlier this month, and we already can’t get enough of his signature sound. We caught up with the rising musician to find out about his inspiration, creative process, and what we can expect from him next.

Birth Sign: Libra – with Pisces Moon and Scorpio Rising

When + how did you find your passion for music?
I was born into a very musical family and all of my life there’s been music in every corner. It wasn’t until I started drumming, around 8 years old, that I found a real passion for music. I’ve never considered myself much of a singer and never will, instruments will always be my bread and butter!
What made you move to LA?
After I finished school I really just started ending up out here a lot for different reasons. On my 18th birthday I visited LA and just never went home. I will always miss Texas but there’s a very addicting vibe out here.
What’s your creative process like when you’re in the studio?
The process always varies. Sometimes I’ll hear a song that inspires me or I think of a cool phrase. Mostly though, it just involves me alone in the studio with my guitar.
How would you describe your sound?
My main influences are polar opposites of each other. My first love is punk rock and my second is european-based acoustic music. It’s quite difficult for me to say what my style is because of this. On “Wonderland” I worked with other producers and it came across more mainstream. On my upcoming project I’ve been working pretty much completely solo. I’m excited to surprise everyone with my true sound!
What was the inspiration behind Wonderland, and where do you get inspiration from?
Last summer I moved my home studio into my friends’ house while they were on tour. The house was very secluded in the Hollywood Hills, on the famous Wonderland Ave, and I had a lot of alone time. All but one song on Wonderland was made there and inspired by the dark and creepy vibe of the house. It wasn’t hard to think of the name ‘Wonderland’ for this specific project.
Do you think you’ll release music videos? Who would be your dream girl to star alongside you in it?
I don’t really see myself making videos anytime soon. I hate cameras! My star dream girl would have to be Megan Fox. I would definitely make a video in a heart beat if she starred!
What can we look forward to next from you?
I’ve been working on my new project for a few weeks now and already have some amazing features. I’ve been working mainly alone. I’m actually getting things done faster. You can expect new music pretty soon.
Which artist would you want to collab with the most?
I love Tim Armstrong and Lucy Rose. Unique singers have my heart.
