FEATURE INTERVIEW:
This year you released your debut album “LOVE ON DIGITAL” which features 15 R&B songs, showing your range as an artist. When you think back to the creation of this project, what is your favorite memory?
Having fun making it with all of my friends and collaborators. Also, I traveled to a few different places to record which made it more exciting: Tulum, London, New York, LA
Where did the ideal for a jazz album stem from?
My love for jazz music and being in jazz choir while I was in HS.
Justine Skye, Destin Conrad
What’s your favorite song on “wHIMSY” and what does it mean to you?
“Lonely Detective” because it’s a silly and fun song. It sounds like it belongs in a movie soundtrack.
You just kicked off your “Love on Digital” world tour, where you’re expected to hit over 40 cities. What are you most looking forward to this tour and what city are you excited to perform at the most?
I’m looking forward to playing in Tampa because it’s my hometown and New York because that is where I currently live.
You recently held a private dinner party with D’USSÉ in NYC where the attendees were some of the hottest names in the industry. Talk to us about how the night went.
The D’USSÉ Friday dinner we had in NYC was such a vibe. We held it the Friday before I was leaving for tour and it was a great opportunity to have my team and close friends in the room to toast to the wins we’ve all had this year. From releasing my debut album to my first headlining tour, it was a great night to raise a toast to those milestone moments with a brand that’s of the culture.
What’s your favorite cocktail to make with D’USSÉ?
My favorite D’USSÉ cocktail to make is either the Spicy Sidecar or the Espresso Martini. We had both of them at my dinner and everyone loved them but I think the Spicy Sidecar was the real winner. It’s a twist on the traditional Sidecar cocktail but with an edge and I feel like that represents me.
How would you define your fashion style?
My fashion style is adventurous, fun, and sexy.
You’ve worked with brands like Telfar and Amiri, if you would work with any designer next, who would it be and why?
I would love to work with Marni and Balmain. Also, any up-and-coming black designers.
We see your expression of love, art & fashion through your craft and you’ve never shied away from being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. What do you appreciate most about being a part of this community?
The amount of people who feel seen by what I create. It’s so gratifying. And the gays are fun!!
Lizette Pinto, Destin Conrad
You’ve worked with a long list of stars from Kehlani, Lil Nas X & Masego just to name a few. When you think about 2026, what’s one collab you’re manifesting and what would that song sound like?
Robert Glasper, and it would sound smoooooth.
Outside of music, fancy dinner parties and jet setting across the world, what does a regular chill day look like for Destin?
Eating everything in sight and laying in bed with my cat!
