Brazilian It Girl Alissa Salls Gets a Gold Medal in Street Style

While news sites are blaring that “your life is at risk” if you head to Brazil for the Olympics this summer, Rio’s happening either way. And before, during and after the Olympics, Brazil will remain one of the coolest and most unique places in the world when it comes to style, parties, and not giving a fuck what anyone else thinks. So we’re highlighting some of Brazil’s coolest exports: the incredible it girls who make Rio tick.

Meet Alissa Salls, our Brazilian babe of the week! Alissa is a model living in Brazil with an Instagram account full of all the beauty, style, and bad bitch inspo a girl could ever need. From her fav supermodel to the best thing about Brazil, Alissa answers some of our favorite #GaloreGirl questions below.

How do/did you use Instagram to reach your end goal in fashion?

I’ve always loved fashion. I wanted to be a model ever since I was a kid. But when I realized the visibility that Instagram was giving me, modeling happened naturally. I don’t think I was looking for success on Instagram or anything like that… it just happened!

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by the people I see on the street, music, and movies… there isn’t one specific thing that inspires me. I can really be in love with something today and then tomorrow have a new obsession [laughing]! It’s like asking me what my favorite band is, it would be very difficult to answer as it’s always changing.

Who is your favorite supermodel?

I’m really into Charlotte Kemp’s style right now.

How did you gain so many followers on Instagram?

I remember I started to get a flood of followers when my photos began circulating on other social networks, like We Heart It and Tumblr.

What’s the best part about modeling?

The most interesting thing in my profession is that I’m able to meet people from different places with different styles. Also, I love witnessing the creative thinking of the producers and photographers I work with.

What’s the best thing about Brazil?

The people, obviously.
