MAYBE THE OUTFIT NEEDS ONE MORE THING
Minimalism has had a very long meeting. I think we can leave now.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about an outfit that refuses to behave. Electric color with soft knits. Metallics next to denim. A bikini where a shirt could have been. Tiny shorts, giant jewelry, unexpected layers and one accessory that probably should be too much — but somehow fixes the entire look.
Because maybe we’ve been asking “Should I take something off?” for too long.
Sometimes the outfit needs one more thing.
The fun is in the contradiction. Something soft against something barely there. A polished piece with one that feels completely unserious. Playing with proportion, texture and color until the outfit starts feeling less like something you assembled and more like something that could only belong to you.
And no, everything does not have to match.
Actually, I’m beginning to think that’s the point.
Getting dressed should occasionally involve a questionable decision. The giant necklace. The weird shoe. The color you almost talked yourself out of. The piece you put on, took off, stared at yourself for thirty seconds and then put back on.
Keep it.
The outfit was probably asking for it.
