A Silk Dress That’s Cool Like The Other Side Of The Pillow + 5 More Things I’m Obsessing Over This Week
We’ve hit peak summer.
It’s hot, you’re hot, the fuckboy leaving you on read is probably hot, and your underboob sweat is out in full force.
Here are some of my favorite things at the moment that are helping me keep cool — whether it’s a silk dress that’s the next best thing to being naked, a moisturizing matte lipstick, or a chill taco salad recipe for when you need something refreshing on your lunch break.
1. This Silk Dress That Is Cool Like The Other Side Of The Pillow (& Super Flattering)
When I think silk, I think of that “sheets of Egyptian cotton” song from Uptown Girls. But upon slipping into this light, airy, and super luxurious (not to mention super flattering) 100% silk dress from Silk Laundry, I realized that I’m not sure I ever have worn anything 100% silk before.
I legit felt like I was floating through the day, or like a sensual lover was caressing my body all day. Sorry for the corny metaphor, but it’s true. I’m now debating splurging on silk sheets, because the dress is that good and it’s so cooling even when it’s 90 degrees outside. I’m also absolutely considering buying the dress in another color, or in the mini dress version.
While $173 for a slip dress may seem steep compared to Forever 21 prices, there is a huge difference in real silk vs. synthetic stuff (generally polyester). And I mean, Revolve is selling similar dresses that are unlined and made from a silk blend (rather than 100% silk) for even more $.

2. A Glam Toilet Paper Holder
Keeping extra toilet paper in a plastic Charmin bag on the bathroom floor is so college. I’m a grown up now and my toilet paper deserves the best — so I got this gold TP holder for $15.99 on Amazon. It’s really amazing how it makes the extra TP by my toilet look decorative and classy rather than desperate and embarrassing. It even comes in rose gold if that’s your thing. 10/10 would recommend.
3. A Vegan Taco Salad Recipe That Will Have You Thinking You’re At By Chloe
Okay, I know I don’t usually post recipes in here, but I tried this taco salad recipe last week and holy wow — I was so looking forward to eating it every day, that I was almost annoyed when my boss decided to take us all out to lunch. Who knew walnut taco meat could be so freaking good?
If you like to chef it up like me, you need to make this protein-rich, vegan, and gluten-free salad. I don’t even usually like salads and I’m obsessed with it. It’s super-filling and delicious.
4. This Perfume That’ll Make You Glow (& Smell) Like a Sun Goddess
Make golden hour go all day with this sparkle-filled scent from Pinrose.
Sun Saint Shimmer mist is a hydrating fragrance mist that contains micro-golden flecks so that you can glow. The scent, which has notes of dry coconut wood, sea salt, and a hint of lime — is slightly sweet and very light and refreshing.
I literally spray it all over my entire body before spending a Saturday in the sun — but just make sure to wear SPF underneath, because fragrance can lead to sun sensitivity.
5. A Matte Lip Kit That Won’t Leave You High & Dry
The last time I used matte lipstick was fall of 2016. After dealing with major dry lips, I stopped wearing lipstick completely (I’m a no-makeup girl 50% of the time anyway).
But, armed with a new best friend who promises she’s going to finally teach me how to do my own makeup, I tried Carli Bybel’s new matte lipsticks and was pleasantly surprised.
Because they’re formulated with Jojoba oil, vitamin E, and cottonseed — they moisturize your lips instead of leaving them chapped.
Although I’m not totally sold on how I look with a matte, nude lip — I didn’t wake up with parched lips the next day, which I saw as a win. Plus, they come with a gloss for you to wear on top. If you’re looking for a matte lipstick that won’t have you desperately reaching for the lip balm after a night-out, you might want to try these. They go on sale August 8th, but you can sign up for early access here.
6. A Personalized Haircare Line That Actually Does What It Says It Will
One size does not fit all when it comes to haircare, and Prose knows that.
My haircare concerns are aplenty, and I’m always debating whether to buy the volumizing shampoo, the anti-frizz shampoo, or the anti-breakage shampoo.
Thankfully, with Prose, I don’t have to choose. Like many of the ever-popular personalized beauty services, Prose has you take a quiz to get a sense of your hair type. They even ask you for your zip code so that they can take into account humidity, pollution, and other location-centric mane needs.
I’ve used Prose back when I was living in DC, and I got a new formulation after moving to LA — it’s safe to say that this shit seriously works for my hair. It’s basically one of the only shampoo + conditioner combos that allows my hair to dry soft, but still long (I have wavy hair, and sometimes when I wash it it gets so curly and my hair looks super short).
Best of all, Prose is actually more affordable than some of the boujie haircare brands I used to use. You can get a shampoo and conditioner for $25 each, plus the hair mask for just $38.
