Marta Klein Gets Gritty and Gorgeous in “cuz i’m bored” – and releases Debut EP “Mixed Signals”

NYC’s grunge-pop rising artist Marta Klein dropped her new music video “cuz i’m bored” a couple of weeks ago, and it’s pure downtown detachment. Shot under freeway overpasses with smoke, cars careening, and hazy attitude, the video doesn’t tell a story — it broadcasts a feeling: don’t text him, you’re just bored.

Directed and edited by Dylan Bieber and Dylan Esko — with production by Circus Seventeen — the video’s minimalism hits hard. No fluff. No fake tears. Just Marta, styled in a cropped zip-up, low-rise pants, and that deadpan confidence Gen Z has made iconic. “It’s about that moment where you realize you’re texting your ex not because you miss them… but because you’re literally just bored,” Marta says. “It’s chaotic girl math.”

But make no mistake —“cuz i’m bored” isn’t just a bop — it’s a Gen-Z anthem for the

emotionally unwell. Blending early-2000s pop-punk with indie-pop gloss, Marta wears her influences on her sleeve (Avril, Alanis, Paramore, Pearl Jam — the gang’s all here) but still manages to make it sound fresh. Call it heartbreak with a hook and a half. The single follows a string of buzzy releases and leads into Marta’s debut EP, What Are We, which dropped on September 12. At only 19, the Estonian-born, Florida-raised, NYC-hardened artist is proving she’s not just another cool girl with a guitar — she’s the real deal, one song, one heartbreak, one subway stop at a time.

“I hope people feel like they can be as dramatic as they want when they hear it,”Marta adds. “Like, you’re allowed to feel too much. That’s kind of the point.”
