Cannabis Meets High Fashion: Highest on the Runway Again Thrills Miami

In recent years, cannabis culture has enjoyed increased mainstream acceptance. Once relegated to the counterculture, supporters now openly celebrate cannabis as a symbol of creativity and individuality. The 420-friendly lifestyle also now exists in industries ranging from wellness to fashion. 

This evolution was fully displayed on December 7, 2024, when Highest on the Runway by Gastronomy Magazine returned to Miami for its fifth edition. Presented by BAKED! and part of the Terp Basel Festival, the event happened at SkateBird Miami. An enthusiastic crowd gathered for a memorable night of culture, creativity, and cutting-edge style.

A Pioneering Celebration of Cannabis and Fashion

Highest on the Runway once again showcased its reputation as a trailblazer, merging cannabis with high-fashion artistry. Founded by CRISP Cristina Plinio, the runway show celebrated cannabis acceptance and boundary-pushing design. It is prominently known as  “The first show to smoke cannabis on the runway.”The night’s events highlighted the synergy between bold skater-influenced styles and cannabis culture. As with previous editions, attendees left impressed—and inspired. 

This year’s event featured collections from three premier designers. Presenting Vlackbook, Midnight in Shibuya, and Dope Tavio. Models skated down the aisle in stunning ensembles as the runway transformed into an electric spectacle. Each act seamlessly integrated cannabis into the show’s narrative. 

The result? Highest on the Runway reinforced its reputation as an avant-garde innovation and cultural dialogue purveyor.

A Stellar Creative Team

A team of top-tier professionals worked behind the scenes to bring the event’s vision to life. Michelle Venta and Brazil Raine led as Key Artists for the makeup team. Their carefully crafted looks perfectly complemented the show’s edgy vibe. Thanks to Latto Method’s masterful hair styling, the ensembles reached new levels of originality and sophistication.

Havanna Othon oversaw the art direction and styling. Her meticulous attention to detail ensured that the show’s creative themes showed through each element. Aurora Photography by Sage, Gastronomy Magazine’s Director of Photography, visually crafted a striking photographic narrative that captured the night’s vibrancy. Production Management was led by Silvana Avignoni, and the Wardrobe team was overseen by Reagan Bailey

An Iconic Venue and Atmosphere

As for the venue, SkateBird Miami was the perfect setting for the event’s skater-inspired aesthetic. The space’s unique atmosphere enhanced the immersive experience. In true Miami style, Highest on the Runway attendees witnessed a non-conventional show that seamlessly blended fashion, subculture, and advocacy.

A Legacy of Innovation

Highest on the Runway has solidified its status as a cultural phenomenon. Case in point is its previous features in prestigious publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Ocean Drive, Flaunt Magazine, and Roll Up. Fashion enthusiasts and cannabis advocates have gravitated toward the event’s knack for pushing boundaries.

And as the curtains closed on its Miami-styled fourth edition, Highest on the Runway once again proved why it is a standout in fashion and cannabis culture. It continues to redefine what a runway show can be. By showcasing daring designs and promoting cannabis acceptance, the event also revealed the potential of creative industries to drive meaningful cultural conversations.
