Wacky beauty trends you absolutely must try
Fashion Week may not happen everyday like it’s your birthday, but when it comes to serving looks, nothing is more inspiring than seeing some of the most unconventoinal makeup and hair trends. As much as I love a crazy lewk, some makeup and hair photos I’ve seen on Instagram and the runway often tend to veer towards being totally unwearable. Ugh!
If you are daring to go all out in public like it’s a football game, here are some wacky beauty trends you need to try:
1. Green Lipstick
Greenery green may be so 2017, but the beauty world ain’t letting this grassy shade go. Thanks to Fenty Beauty, Midnight Wasabi became the go-to shade. You can do the normal girl route by pairing it with a classic Winehouse-esque winged liner or go extra by pairing it with an avant garde cat eye.
2. Negative Space Cat Eye
Speaking of “graphic” cat eye looks, this one is the most difficult one to do and probably the most extra out of ALL winged liner lewks. Although it was created as an appliqué at Jeremy Scott’s fashion show, you can simply re-create it at home with a flat brush, water and pressed powder eyeshadow. If you’re in a hurry, you can try using the Cleopatra Cat Eye Stamp to achieve it.
3. Emo 2.0 Eyeshadow
Your emo celebrity crush’s go-to makeup look from 2006 got a reboot. Instead of wearing it all over your eyes like My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, you can try wearing red eyeshadow on the bottom lid and contrast it with a dash of baby blue. Trust me, this is a lewk you wanna copy for the next music festival!
4. The Outlined Lip
Forget about fishtail brows. The most abominable beauty trend of all time is the contrasting outlined lip. If you think that Kylie Jenner’s overdrawn lip was a sin, nothing beats Eminem’s ex-wife’s outlined lips. (Bonus points if you remember her name!) First, Vaquera sent a model down the catwalk at NYFW in an ex-Mrs. Slim Shady lip and then, Fashion East carried the torch at LFW. Given that you’ve seen this on both runway shows, it’s guaranteed that the outlined lip is SO fetch.
5. Mustard Anything….
Your least favorite hot dog stall condiment just became the hottest color of the season. Mustard yellow might seem like a bizarre choice for an eyeshadow and lipstick combo, but how can we not ignore the fact that it’s actually universally flattering?! If you want to wear it from eyes to lips, do it!
6. “Explosion” ponytails
Elle UK dubbed this extreme ponytail the “explosion” thanks to its extremely wide ends. Despite the appearance of being extremely difficult to do, almost every hair type can do it. Seriously, you can also build up some muscle by backcombing every strand to achieve it.
7. The “Glacial”
Sorry Cardi B, but we’re too broke to wear diamonds all over our body. Rather than maxing out a credit card on Harry Winston, why not we get a glacial? By smearing glitter all over our foreheads, it’s gonna be make us look like we hired a MUA. Trust me, glacials will be the new chokers.
