These Numbers Prove Uggs Aren’t Going Anywhere

Ugg sales are way up, which probably means the trend isn’t a trend — Uggs are here to stay.

Despite the inherent understanding that the sheepskin-lined Ugg boots are truly fugly, the company’s revenue increased 12.6 per cent in 2015, with their annual sales reaching to just shy of $1.5 billion.

The classic boots price at $220, making them somewhat of an investment. But that hasn’t stopped any consumers, including celebrities from keeping them a staple of their wardrobe. Because just when you think it’s time to retire your Uggs, another cool celebrity puts them and makes them trendy again.

There’s Lindsay Lohan’s Mean Girls style to blame for this, in part. Paris Hilton, Cara Delevigne, and Kate Moss are also all responsible for keeping the boots relevant. Remember when Kendall and Kylie went to Australia and made a huge show of practically buying out the store?

Ugg started selling the shoes 15 years ago, and have maintained relevancy even after Juicy Couture tracksuits and Tiffany’s bracelets go out of style. Who could have guessed that the one trend fashion could never sacrifice was comfort?
