Stefania Ferrario Will Make You Want a Peroxide Pixie Cut

Hailing from Australia, Stefania Ferrario is the model behind the #DropThePlus movement. She’s also got ridiculously amazing style and is our muse of the month. Read on to get to know Stefania and see some exclusive photos.

What is the definition of girl power to you?

Grrrl Power is about creating and celebrating more female heroes and (hopefully) representing a wide variety of possibilities for young girls to aspire to.

Society is slowly accepting plus models in the fashion industry in a big way. What are your thoughts?

I think it’s amazing that the fashion industry is slowly embracing different sizes, for so long only one definition of beautiful has been represented; the ultra slim body type. For so many girls this is totally unachievable and can lead to a whole array of body image issues. By having a variety of shapes and sizes, every girl growing up can find someone they can relate to. Everyone has the right to feel beautiful and represented.

Spice Girls or TLC?

Neither, I’m not really into pop unless it’s from the 80s or earlier.

What are you passionate about at the moment?

Revisiting #DropThePlus and body issues in general within the modelling industry as well as gender fluidity.

Who has been the biggest influence on your journey so far?

Dita Von Teese for embracing and supporting me as a model even though her line is not specifically aimed at curvier women. Amber Rose for championing and inspiring curvier women to feel beautiful and helping to put an end to slut shaming.

What is your message to all young girls out there trying to be accepted?

That individual traits are being celebrated and accepted more and more. You shouldn’t feel like you have to look and be a certain way. What makes you unique is beautiful.

What are you working on next?

Heading to NY to join IMG, as well as continuing to push for change in the fashion industry. I’m doing it from the inside!
