Rydel Lynch Is The Girl In The Band With Her Own Clothing Brand

Rydel Lynch is the girl in the band—she’s also the girl with her own clothing brand.

Oh, and a successful YouTube channel, and a cool 1.1 million followers on Instagram.

Ryder was formerly the only female member in R5, a seriously stanned band that also consisted of her three brothers (and one more unrelated male friend). Now, she tours with her brothers’ new band, The Driver Era, as a keyboardist. While she never planned on playing music as a career, she was in the right place at the right time when her brothers started messing around in their garage.

This past year, she diversified her creative endeavors by starting her own clothing boutique after consistently getting asked about her outfits on tour.

We chatted with the 25-year-old ball of creativity about music, beauty, and her online boutique.

How did you originally get into playing music?

To be honest, I never knew that music would be one of my careers. I always thought I’d be a professional dancer or dance teacher. When my brothers starting teaching themselves how to play guitar and forming a garage band they were like, “hey Rydel, we need a keyboard player,” and I was just like, “OK!” And the rest is history.

What did you learn from your brothers music-wise?

To me they are geniuses. Their songwriting and producing capabilities are insane and I could never do what they do. I’m so lucky they keep me around, haha. Rocky has always been the biggest help as far as making sure I know what I’m doing and what equipment I should be using. After 10 years, I’m solid now, but in the early stages I needed all hands on deck.

What is your favorite beauty product at the moment?

I could not live without dry shampoo. Especially on tour, I use it everyday. I love Philosophy’s fresh cream one—it smells so good!

What made you decide to start your online boutique?

It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a couple years now. The inspiration sparked when people would constantly be asking where I got my clothes from and I realized that I could just be doing this on my own. I sort of just up and did it last year, figuring everything out as I went along. Started super small, and hopefully it just keeps growing. It’s my baby!

What is your favorite Driver Era song?

All of the above, haha. Honestly, it’s very hard to pick a favorite, they’re all so different and unique. As of right now I’m gonna go with “Scared of Heights” and “Nobody Knows.” Those are both new ones that will be released in a couple months I believe, but “LOW” will always be my jam.

What is next for you in 2019?

For 2019 I’m going to continue to focus all my energy on my boutique and continue to expand it. I love running it and curating new collections, it’s so fun! I’ll also continue posting on my YouTube channel once a week and vlogging on my IGTV!
