Our Favorite Beauty Trends from the NYFW S/S 24 Runways

Runway beauty you can totally recreate at home.

Brightly colored hues and celeb-packed front rows may have taken the spotlight at NYFW for spring/summer 2024 – but it was in fact the Beauty and Hair trends that caught our eyes. From blush cheekbones at Kim Shui to Dewy skin seen at Custo Barcelona, we narrow down our favorite beauty trends.

1. Chrome Nails

Chrome for daytime? Yes. Nail artist,Sojin Oh, created gorgeous Chrome Nails at Priscavera’s S/S 24 show using Kiara Sky Nails. You can re-create this look using Money 4 Nails “Greys” Collection (great for various shades of Chrome) and Sephora’s Color Hit mini nail polish in the shade “Shimmer” Silver.

2. Textured Hair

Designers opted for fun/DIY-friendly hair-dos this season, the hair was blown out, as seen at the AREA show, or wet beach-inspired waves at Custo Barcelona, the trend was clear – Textured hair for the win! At AREA, the clothes had texture (wool, velvet, faux-fur) to compliment the clothes, hairstylist Ryan Mitchell achieved this look using Mr.Smith Haircare. This look may be extreme to some but done right it can highlight any evening look.

3. Rose Cheeks

Designer Kim Shui delivered one of this season’s most romantic collections. “The poetry, power, and strength of femininity” is what inspired makeup artist Romero Jennings to create the monochromatic makeup look at the Kim Shui spring/summer 2024 show. Romero used MAC Extra Dimension Blush in Rosy Cheeks, a hot pink powder on the cheekbones complimented with Doll-like skin using MAC Studio finish Serum Powdered Foundation. Try re-creating this look using About Face Beauty’s Cheek Freak Blush Balm in the shade “Shagged”. For doll-like skin try using Make-up by Mario’s Surreal Foundation for a buildable finished look.

4. Colored Eye-liner

Say goodbye to black liner and hello to bright-colored hues. You can apply eyeliner any way you like, at Helmut Lang Make-up artist, Daniel Sallstorm, created a simple yet effective look for the models: Full brows, hydrated skin, and Colored Eyeliner. Daniel used MAC Acrylic Paints to achieve this look but you can totally re-create this for daytime and nighttime wear. Try using About Face’s The Minis: Matte fluid eye paint primaries.

5. Shimmer

What’s Spring/Summer without a little shimmer? Key Make-up artist, Fatima Sees, created this stunning soft lid at Who Decides War using MAC Glitter Eyeshadow. Continuing the trend, Priscavera’s make-up artist, Susie Sobol at MAC, used shimmer on the eyes but also the skin – yes, you read that right. Susie used iridescent shimmer on the neckline adding an unexpected glam to compliment the cool clothes Priscavera created. Re-create this look using About Face Beauty’s Fractal Glitter Eye Paint, available in various shades.
