Kate Moss is Creating a Modeling Agency for People Who Don’t Look Like Models
Kate Moss is definitely one of the most well known faces in fashion, but with her career waning and fashion evolving as much as it has over the past few decades, Kate needed a change of routine. What better change than a new business?
Kate told Business of Fashion in her cover story that she is starting up a talent management agency for people who are “not pretty”.
But wtf does that mean?
She told Business of Fashion that she decided to go into the management side of modeling after she left the modeling agency earlier this year that first discovered her. Storm Management signed Kate when she was only 14 years old.
Kate says the departure was amicable, but it was something she needed to do to “grow up.”
“It’s a grown-up thing,” she told BOF. “I felt like I wanted to do things that were more than modelling. It didn’t matter how much we would try and do it together with them, I was always going to be the little Kate that they’ve known since I was 14,” she explains. “It was like leaving home. I had to leave, and they were very understanding about it. They were like, ‘Yeah you’ve got to go now, we’ve done as much as we can do.’ I wanted to spread my wings.”
And spread her wings she will, but the talent agency will focus more on helping others do the same.
“But I want to focus more on managing people’s careers than just [running] a modeling agency. I don’t really want pretty people, I want people that want to sing and dance and act — I want to create stars,” she told BOF.
Kate’s new talent agency is set to start working with a handful of talents and represent them as models.
Even though I can’t sing or dance, does this mean I will finally have a shot? (LOL)
