Cranes, Currents, Couture — The Industrial Sea Reimagined
“Into the Ebb” is a visual exploration of movement and contrast — where the rhythm of the sea meets the pulse of a city that grew around its industrial harbor. Set against backdrops of cranes, shipping docks, and glimmering water, the series captures the ebb and flow between nature and machinery. The palette of rust, crimson, and deep marine captures the reflective surfaces of the harbour at dusk in a dialogue between the organic and the constructed.
Each image moves like a current, with the models embodying both strength and surrender. The styling by Layla Desjardins layers utilitarian textures with nautical whimsy: berets and veils meet workwear lines, feathers clash with steel tones; Photographer Gustavo Chams’ lens is playful and nostalgic, reminding us of a time that has passed, capturing a world where seagulls, cargo cranes, and couture coexist.
“Into the Ebb” is both a meditation on the transformation of a harbour industrial city and a love letter to the beauty found in the people that coexist in this world of movement and stillness.
