10 Iconic Past Met Ball Looks That Cannot Be Forgotten
It’s that time of year ladies and gents. The 2016 Met Ball is about to commence. Your Instagram feed is about to be chock full of designer gowns, makeup BTS selfies, and red haute glam moments galore tonight when the action starts.
The theme this year is “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” and we can’t wait to see what futuristic technology will be incorporated in the couture costumes this year!
In honor of the event, we gathered some of the absolute best moments from Met Ball history below.
1, 2, and 3. The Rookie Awards
Baby Supermodels Bella, Gigi, and Kendall would look amazing in anything, but they all looked on point at the 2015 Met Ball. The models showed they weren’t above having a little fun on the red carpet as they took a little break for a selfie session before the ball. Gigi shone in a rose red DVF plunge, Kendall sparkled in Calvin Klein (even though the designer himself is apparently not a huge fan…), and Bella was a beauty in a Topshop flower-embellished LBD.
4. The Most Royal
Okay, so this was a moment. Arguably one of the best in history. It’s hard to know if SJP was channeling Carrie or Cinderella in this Oscar de la Renta number, but either way, we give her a 10/10. If you found a glass slipper near the bushes in 2014, you know what girl to look for.
5. The Most Beautiful
Versace Versace baby. And maybe one more Versace, because Gisele Bundchen’s 2008 cutout dress was just that good. And with the ultimate accessory and eye candy Tom Brady on her arm, she’s honestly unstoppable.
6. The Most Unforgettable
RiRi really stole the show at the 2015 Met Ball in this trailing gold cape by Guo Pei. Rihanna said she “found it online and it took Guo Pei two years to make,” according to an interview with Vanity Fair. Big Bird comparisons followed her debut of the bright yellow fur, but we think she looks like a goddess. Where can we submit applications to help carry this year’s train?
7. The Hottest
This is the face of a girl who knows she has some really good lemonade coming. Beyonce shows us how she popularized the word “slay” with this Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture see through number.
8. The Best Statement
Why just wear the dress of a designer when you can also wear the designer on your arm? Kate Moss dazzles in Marc Jacobs, with Marc Jacobs in 2009. Kate looked like such a goddess we wouldn’t have been surprised if the supermodel and muse had taken off flying in this winged number.
9. The Artsiest
Zendaya looked like she could be on display in the Met itself in this artistically structured sun themed dress from Fausto Puglisi in 2015. With matching sun crown and sun bracelet, she definitely aced the accessory department.
10. The Most Meme-ed
Poor Kim got a lot of couch comparisons for her floral Givenchy fitted look, but let’s be real. If anyone could even come close to pulling off head to toe tight floral while pregnant, it’s Kim.
We can’t wait to see this year’s wardrobe!
