Hedi Slimane Has Officially Left Saint Laurent
Saint Laurent has confirmed Hedi Slimane’s exit from the brand. And no, this is not an April Fool’s joke.
Rumors first popped up in January, since Hedi wouldn’t renew his contract. But this morning, Hedi’s departure was confirmed in a press release by the major fashion house, stating that, “at the end of a four-year mission, which has led to the complete repositioning of the brand, the Maison Yves Saint Laurent announces the departure of Hedi Slimane as its creative and image director.”
Hedi presented his final collection at Paris Fashion Week, a follow up to his runway show held at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. (Feb 10). Unlike every other brand that showed its ready-to-wear range during PFW, Hedi showed his first couture collection — a total of 42 looks.
So, what’s next for Hedi? Good question.
After dressing some of the biggest names in film and TV, the fashion world is basically his. From possibly taking over another fashion house to focusing on his own photography projects, Hedi isn’t out of options.
So, what’s next for Saint Laurent? Also, a great question.
There’s been some speculation that Anthony Vaccarello will be next to take over this May. His appointment as Saint Laurent’s creative director has been rumored since January.
All we can do is wait to find out!
