Should concealer go on before foundation? Kim’s MUA says yes

Everyone knows that Mario Dedivanovic is Kim Kardashian’s right hand makeup artist and is one of the main reasons her makeup looks over the years have set hella trends. But did you know he advocates putting concealer on before foundation?

On top of Mario working with Kim for 10 years and helping her create her beauty line, he’s well versed in various skin types, tones and facial structures.

In an interview with Elle, Mario spills some tea on his rules to having a beat ass face.

If you’ve ever sat and binge watched makeup tutorials on YouTube you’ve probably seen just about everyone apply foundation, conceal their under eyes, the bridge on their nose and their forehead but Mario is saying we should conceal then add foundation.

“I usually start out with Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer under the eyes,” says Mario. “It’s full coverage and perfect for hiding dark circles, but it also won’t crease and leaves a blurring effectβ€”which is key to keeping the skin looking perfect.”

Mario uses a beauty blender to blend out the concealer and then adds a liquid foundation while slowing building up on product. After you get your foundation coverage to your liking set under your eyes and proceed to contour and highlight.

Another gem dropped in the interview is how to achieve perfect brows. Mario says it’s important to keep your brows feminine regardless of how bold you want them to be.

“Taking the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the appropriate shade, work the pencil in short strokes to continue to fill,” he says. “Be sure to use the spoolie to brush the pigment into the brow, allowing it to appear softer and more feathery.”

To finish off the look, conceal your brows at the top and bottom and add a brow gel for texture.
