CFDA Awards 2014 Best Dressed
The annual CFDA awards ceremony is held every year to recognize extraordinary contributions in fashion, journalism, creativity and lifetime achievement in related to the fashion industry at large. This year’s ceremony was held at the Alice Tully hall in Lincoln center, hosted by film director John Waters. And the ceremony was excellent indeed. Not only were some of the most unique and fearless individuals honored through the Swarovski and Geoffrey Beene awards, but the fashions that were churned out for the event were to die for. Here are some of our favorite aesthetically pleasing looks that won the red carpet at the event.
Karlie Kloss in Band of Outsiders
The young Victoria’s Secret model arrived in a pair of sky high Grecian laced booties and a simple white sateen gown. Though perhaps not the most daring look at the event, the outfit screamed an understated elegance Kloss has come to be known for.
Chanel Iman in Monique L’Huillier
The Galore covergirl wore a full length onyx beaded gown that was even more stunning from the back. Iman is known for her unique sex appeal and the long sleeved Monique L’Huillier frock showcased it in the best way possible.
Joan Smalls in Prabal Gurung
Possibly one of the sexiest looks at the event, Joan showed off her glowing, golden skin in a slitted, cerulean confection that only Gurung could create. Sexy yet elegant.
Naomi Campbell
Naomi is already one of fashion’s most important icons. The supermodel arrived at the event last night in a plunging full length, silver, glittered gown that highlighted her famous figure and elongated physique.
Iman
There are many looks that are nearly impossible to pull off and this is one of them. A layered, many toned satin wrap shirt and full length skirt that is one step away from swallowing the wearer whole and Iman absolutely wears the shit out of it. Fabulous.
Rihanna in Adam Selman
In a flapper-esque confection featuring over 230,00 Swarovski crystals, Rihanna not only stole the fashion icon award, but swiped the breath straight out of every attendees lungs. The dress was completely see through, showcasing Rihanna’s flawless and controversial figure. It is absolutely the dress of the year. A star making look (as if she wasn’t already a star).
