Anitta Invites You To Carnival

Anitta has taken her talent to the world and has shown, undeniably, that Brazil is rich not only in natural beauty but also in rhythms that reveal a vibrant, living culture capable of telling its own story. For those observing from afar, the journey of the artist who rose from the suburbs of Rio and reached the biggest stages on the planet may sound like a fairy tale—but at its core, it’s the result of strategy, discipline, and tireless work. A visionary by nature, she has always been one step ahead. After conquering Brazil with funk, she brought the genre abroad and explored new sounds, such as reggaeton, carving out a path where none existed before.

With hits in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian, she has secured a rare place on the international stage: that of a global superstar capable of connecting with audiences from every corner of the world. Alongside her artistic career, her influence extends far beyond the stage. Anitta uses her visibility to amplify essential conversations—such as environmental preservation and the defense of Indigenous rights—reinforcing the role of a star who understands both the impact and responsibility of her voice.

She is now preparing for another marathon of her special Carnival shows, “Ensaios da Anitta“. A massive success in previous editions, the performances return with her biggest hits as well as new tracks from her themed EP, set to be released on December 4. At a moment when Brazil turns its eyes toward collective joy, the singer once again steps into the role of master of ceremonies for a celebration that transcends entertainment: it is identity, belonging, and living history. Her journey reveals an artist who not only keeps pace with the world but leads it.

FEATURE INTERVIEW:

Brazilian Carnival is celebrated in many different ways across the country, with each region bringing its own rhythms, traditions, and stories. Within this incredibly diverse mosaic, how would you define your Carnival? What are the rituals, energies, and essential elements that make the celebration truly perfect for you?
Carnival to me revolves around culture, art and popular union, in the most democratic way possible. It’s all about taking up the streets to celebrate our Brazilian way of being, through music, dance, fashion and partying regardless of social and economic status. That’s why it feels so personal to us, you know? Even though it manifests in different ways around the country, Carnival is about our culture and the freedom to express it. I love it!

Which track holds a special place for you within your new Carnival project?
All the new tracks hold a special place in my heart. They were produced, written and performed by the most talented people from all around the country. But maybe I could mention ‘Só Pra Tu’, featuring tecnomelody queen Viviane Batidão. 2025 is the year of COP30 and Global Citizen in Brazil. More specifically, in Belém, in the northern state of Pará. The world had eyes on this region of my country like never before. Pará, where Viviane comes from, has music strongly influenced by the caribbean sounds and also electronic melodic music. My references, on the other hand, come from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. Our song together offers this mixture of different sounds and influences, coming from these far off places… It’s a very special track to me as well because we performed it live on the Global Citizen stage, for millions of people to see.

Your special Carnival shows have taken over Brazil and become sought-after experiences for anyone in search of great music and pure fun. You’ve always been ahead of your time, bringing funk and other Brazilian rhythms to the world stage. Can your fans around the globe dream of an “Anitta Carnival” outside of Brazil, or is this an experience that only finds its true strength and meaning on Brazilian soil? Is it possible to bring that energy somewhere else?
You guys, that would be so awesome! My Carnival projects have been growing in such a great way, I wouldn’t discard that possibility. These are very long shows, mostly in Portuguese. Maybe it could be tested in Portuguese speaking countries? Who knows?

What’s one song by another artist that can never be missing from your party playlist—the one that guarantees the celebration really begins?
For dancing? Any Brazilian funk song, please!

Your spirituality has become more visible in recent years. How do you see that dimension of yourself today? Did something change internally, or did you simply decide to share more of that side with the public? In what ways does this relationship influence your art?

Something did change internally, for sure. For so many years, I was working all the time, recording, performing, giving interviews, doing photoshoots, TV appearances, business deals, networking… You name it. Then around 2021 my body cried for help. I fell very ill and, during the recovery process, I reflected a lot on my health and my priorities. Spirituality was pivotal in that moment. And now I’m always searching for a balance between my physical and spiritual self. It changed my life! And I hope my spiritual journey can maybe inspire other people to search for it too.

You’ve built a successful career spanning more than a decade. How do you stay inspired and motivated after so many projects, tours, and achievements?
I’m just like any human. Sometimes I’m super inspired, sometimes I’m not inspired at all. My art has always been inspired by what I’m going through at the moment, both personally and professionally. It’s a mix of strategy and intuition, you know?

With the hyper-exposure of social media, the pressure to present a perfect life has increased dramatically. How do you navigate that environment? Are you able to maintain a healthy relationship with social platforms?

My relationship with my fans, and with social media as well, has always been centered around honesty. I don’t feel obligated to do anything. And even though I tend to use social media now to spread important voices, my posts won’t always be about sensitive and important issues. I feel free to communicate the way I feel like.

Who is your emergency contact—the friend you trust with your confidences and can count on both in your professional projects and in your personal life?
My brother Renan.

What’s your ideal vacation destination when you think about truly getting away and resting?
Nowadays I prefer to visit distant exotic places, but I don’t limit myself. I love to ski, enjoy the sun at the beach and also do some adventurous things.

What was the last book you read?
“Musculatura da Alma”, by my spiritual shaman Max Tovar.

What is your favorite song of all time?
Probably a Mariah Carey song.
