Angela Bassett’s Black Panther dreads wig took a month to make
The hype of Black Panther is still pretty lit and we’re learning more and more about what went on behind the scenes in the film. The hairstyles in the film were traditional African styles that featured no heat and varied in length, color and texture.
Angela Bassett plays Queen Ramonda and although she wasn’t the main focus throughout the movie, we definitely caught her switch from wearing headpieces throughout the film to her stormy white dreads making an appearance.

In an interview with The Cut, the head of Black Panther’s hair department Camille talked about how “the Pièce De Résistance Wig” was hand made dreads, blended with four colors and it took a month to make. The wig had over 100 individual dreads and then was sewn into a wig but wigmaker Natascha Ladek.
