FEATURE INTERVIEW:

How would the version of you now see the guy who was in the Jersey Boy Squad? How has he evolved?

The younger me was carefree and just having fun. I’ve evolved into someone who found a way to make a living and give back to my family. Social media gave me a path to inspire people and create content. It helped me become who I am today, and I’ve evolved tremendously in the last six years.

How did you start in social media?

It was random. TikTok had just come out, and a friend was posting. One video got 6,000 likes, which was crazy at the time. He had an idea to film a video as a group, and it blew up overnight, getting 600,000 likes. People started asking who each guy was, and that’s when I made my TikTok account and started posting whatever.

What was the first video that made you viral?

The first video that got a million views was just me and my friend doing a trend where you’d hide your face and lip-sync to a song. It was a stupid trend, but POVs were huge back then. I remember making a POV where I had just gotten back from a soccer game, and my girlfriend wanted to break up with me. I was wearing my jersey and lip-syncing to the song.

It’s been a big change, going from random POV videos with your friend to traveling and making a life out of videos. Can you speak to that?

Honestly, it’s been a blessing. I think I have one of the best jobs in the world. I get paid to have fun and show people how much fun I’m having, which is the ultimate dream. I enjoy it so much. Sometimes I live out of a suitcase, going from one place to another. I thank God because nobody in my family has seen these places or done the things I’m doing. It makes me feel good and probably makes my family proud.

What’s the most surreal experience you’ve had?

Going to Qatar for the World Cup was the most surreal feeling I’ve ever felt. As a kid, I used to watch the World Cup at home with my family and dreamed of going one day. Being in Qatar, a whole other world, and seeing Messi lift the trophy blew my mind.

You found your Habibi there in Qatar?

No, there were no Habibis for me. I was in a relationship at the time, so I wasn’t looking for that.

You’ve stayed super connected to your love for soccer. What does the sport mean to you now as a creator?

Soccer means the world to me. It was the only thing I really knew as a kid. I grew up watching soccer with my mom. My stepfather introduced me to Real Madrid, a club from my country, and we would watch it together. It gave me something to bond with him over, and I fell in love with it. Then I got put into club teams and started playing and growing up. It’s always going to be a part of my life. As a creator, it’s crazy that I get to work with clubs, go to stadiums, and get exclusive tours. I want to keep pushing that and the limits. Hopefully, my goal is to one day be an idol in the soccer world.

Are you good at soccer?

I’d say I’m good. I played all my life. Obviously, I wasn’t good enough to go pro, and in high school, it was kind of hard because we went through COVID. But throughout that time, when I had space, I wasn’t doing school or anything. I always made sure that I was at the field, that was training. And I feel I got way better and improved.

You started as a short-form King, but now you’re on Twitch too. How was that change of going to live content?

Twitch is a whole another world. I feel streamers are really taking off. It’s crazy. It’s like social media goes through its eras. Streaming is hard. It’s not as easy as it seems. You have to entertain people for countless hours and engage with live people. You have to keep them entertained the whole time.

Any desire to stream with other streamers?

Yes, I’d say Speed. He’s the number one streamer right now.

Let’s talk about Fenty and Rihanna. What’s the story behind that?

I got an email from Fenty Puma about a brand trip to Barbados to promote the new shoe. I was invited, and a friend of mine was also invited. It was a surprise that Rihanna was there, we were all so shocked and excited, she was so nice.

You’ve become quite famous now. How have you been able to balance life with your family with all the traveling?

Leaving my family was one of the harder things. Now I have to pay bills, pay rent, cook, and clean for myself. At home, my mom would just text or call me when food was ready, and my bed was made. So, I literally have to grow up. I miss them and get sad because my little brother is over there, and I feel he doesn’t have me to look up to anymore. I talk to them on the phone every day. They’re in Italy right now; I paid for them to go to Italy to take a break because they’ve been working so hard.

What’s a fond memory you have with your family?

Family trips to Orlando, visiting Disney and Universal, are among my fondest memories. I cherish the feeling of being together in a new place.

How would you describe your style, and what inspires you?

My Instagram is a mixture of lifestyle, fashion, and soccer. I feel I post so much soccer that people don’t see the other side of me. But I love clothes. I dress myself every day.

What’s next for you?

I’m super excited for the Club World Cup, and I’m going to be heading to Miami for the opener game and to be doing the coin toss. I´m extremely excited.
