Chloe X Halle, the singing sister duo signed to Beyoncé’s label Parkwood Entertainment, just dropped their first music video for their new single, “Drop.” And the vid which looks like a Beyoncé music video, if Beyoncé was a soulful teen with no budget limitations.
The two, who performed for Michelle Obama at SXSW recently, originally caught Beyoncé’s eye after their YouTube cover of her song “Pretty Hurts” went viral. The girls cite her and Erykah Badu as huge influences, but have already developed their own unique aesthetic and sound; they wrote and produced “Drop” by themselves, and the music video shows the teenaged sisters singing with the kind of depth that could rival any industry veteran.
