Aviici Is Now The DJ Who Retired At 26

Swedish House DJ Tim Bergling, better known as Aviici, has just announced that he’s retiring. At the tender of age of 26, the “Levels” DJ holds the record for being one of the highest paid DJs of the last 5 years, but says that he’ll stop doing live performances after he finishes up with his current tour.

The DJ wrote a letter to his fans about his announcement, citing his health as one of the most important factors in the decision. He’s previously said that his tour schedule has made it difficult for him to maintain a healthy lifestyle, leaving him with “too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist,” and has had to cancel multiple touring appearances for health reasons.

Bergling had been considering the idea of retiring for some time, and was finally prompted to make his decision after a cross-country road trip with friends.

Avicii said he’d long been wrestling with the decision to stop touring, and was finally able to gain a new perspective during a recent cross-country U.S. drive with friends.

“One part of me can never say never, I could be back … but I won’t be right back,” he wrote in the letter, in which he also includes his cell phone number at the bottom, and asking fans to “bare” with him if he’s slow to respond.

Never say never, but see the full letter here.
