Gwen Stefani’s Rebound Relationship Needs to End For Her Music’s Sake
Remember when Gwen Stefani sang badass and independent breakup anthems when she was part of No Doubt in the 90s?
We figured that her divorce from Gavin Rossdale would be just the inspiration she needed for a return to form on this front. But unfortunately, she pretty much immediately started a rebound relationship with Blake Shelton, and her new single, “Misery,” sounds exactly like something that a girl on the rebound would like.
Coming from the “Don’t Speak” singer, Gwen Stefani’s new single “Misery” is a disappointment, but not a surprise. Gwen Stefani’s prime came during her breakup from bandmate Tony Kanal, fueling enough emotion for the songwriter to pen a number of songs so emotionally resonant that the world had to pay attention.
Instead, her newest track is a super poppy jam all about feeling addicted to and infatuated with your rebound guy.
Ditch the dude, Gwen. You’re “Just a Girl,” and that’s a good thing.
“Misery” is a track off Stefani’s upcoming album titled This Is What the Truth Feels Like out March 18. The album’s producers include Stefani’s new collaborators Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, the songwriting duo behind Selena Gomez’ “Good For You,” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry.”
