Zendaya Steps Out In One Of Fall’s Hottest Trends For A Surprising Reason
When it comes to fashion, there’s a lot of things that mere mortals like you and me can never understand (like why we’re not supposed to wear white after labor day and why designers show their spring/summer lines right as autumn is about to start), but fortunately, there’s a few practices that are relatively easy to grasp. Namely, why fashion throws itself so many parties.
Last night marked the annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund gala, where Hollywood hotties and supermodels mingle with up-and-coming designers to try and look glamorous enough to catch Anna Wintour’s sunglass-protected eyes.
Well, at least we know one starlet who didn’t have any trouble stealing the spotlight: Zendaya.
Besides being a role model for women, young or otherwise, Zendaya just so happens to be a statuesque beauty with a knack for fashion. Last night was no exception.
Although we love her choice to dress in a stunning, sheer maxi-length boho gown from luxury designer Thakoon, Zendaya’s outfit, her fur-trimmed shoes are the talk of the town. Some people hate them, some people love them, but few know the story behind them.
Zendaya’s shoes were designed by Brooklyn-based designer, Brother Vellies, who partnered with the United Nation’s Ethical Fashion Initiative to help give artisans in the developing world the skills they need in order to launch their careers. Additionally, all Brother Vellies production is 100% ethnical, with a heavy focus on environmental protection.
Leave it to Zendaya to wear an outfit with as much to say about the world as she does.
