Young Ejecta Tells Us Why It’s Always Okay To Be NSFW

Let’s be real, no one can quite capture the reality of love and heartache in pop song like Young Ejecta. The Brooklyn synth-pop duo, fronted by Leanne Macomber, nail it once again with their mini-album, The Planet, and we can’t stop fawning over Leanne. We chatted about the new record, why Sex and the City isn’t real New York, and Leanne’s expert breakup advice.

Congrats on releasing your record this week – what’s it like having it out in the world now?
Its such a relief! Been so anxious to share it!

As a New York girl: Sex and the City or Girls? What’s your NY?
More like American Psycho… It’s a rat race up here and I go from loving it to cursing life on a daily basis.

“Welcome To Love” is a gorgeous breakup anthem. Tell us about a messy breakup. Do you have any advice on moving on?
Thank you! My only advice is that it could not have been over soon enough! The world has been waiting for you to realize it. Say yes to everything!

How did you spend your time during the “snowpocalypse”?
I adopted a cat. Hes the sweetest little ragdoll. He was abandoned and it just breaks my heart to think of what he’s been through. He’s finally eating and purring.

The cover art for The Planet is very NSFW. Tell us about stripping all for the cover and where does that kind of confidence come from?
As a female artists you’re under the microscope. Things get NSFW…a lot of microscopes disappear pretty quickly.
