Why Caitlyn Jenner Isn’t Ready To Show Off Her Swimsuit Just Yet
Women have a notoriously difficult time when it comes to swimsuits. It takes a good amount of confidence to strut around in underwear-like apparel in public. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it’s no use pretending we live in a world where body shaming isn’t a thing. When choosing a bathing suit, you’re looking for something you feel comfortable in, something that covers just enough while still making you feel sexy, and most importantly, something that’s not going to give you horrendous tan lines.
This is Caitlyn Jenner’s first summer as a woman, and as she can attest, the struggle is real.
On this Sunday’s episode of I Am Cait, Jenner and her friends take a trip to San Francisco and celebrate another day well spent by chilling in the hot tub (you know, as bitches do). Or at least that’s what Jenner’s friends did. She wasn’t ready yet.
“Have you been swimming in your own bathing suit yet,” Caitlyn’s friend Jenny Boylan asks? “No. Well, I’ve been in the bathing suit but I haven’t been in the pool,” replies Jenner. “That will happen at some point. I’m in no rush.”
Jenner later goes on to elucidate her reticence, saying “this process of coming out doesn’t happen overnight. There are so many hurdles to overcome…I’m just don’t know if I’m ready to expose myself like that.”
It takes women years to get comfortable in their own skin, and that’s exactly what Caitlyn needs: time. Posing on the cover of Vanity Fair is one thing, doing it in real time is a horse of a different color.
