A Bowie Star Is Born…
“They burn you with their radiant smiles, trap you with their beautiful lives…”
We are seeing stars tonight, kittens. And it has nothing to do with those several Jameson nightcaps we consumed. BTW, we’re not talking about the stars you might see outside your window either. Nope. You don’t even have to get out of bed to witness this magical constellation — just grab your nearest laptop/iPhone and prepare to reach glam rock nirvana and a potential fainting spell. Kittens, what we’re talking about is the icon known as DAVID BOWIE (!!!) and his euphoric music video for The Stars (Are Out Tonight) which hit the internet like an army of blazing meteorites just MINUTES ago. We still haven’t recovered, but we have watched and squealed and maybe even shed a tear or three over this masterpiece maaaany times.
Directed by the incredible Floria Sigismondi and shot by Jeff Cronenweth, the clip stars Bowie (duh) and… wait for it… Tilda f***ing Swinton (!!!) as an all American married couple. Just as we lost our damn minds over what we believed to be the best casting since forever, Galore’s beautiful BFF (and our current model blogger), ANDREJ PEJIC, decided to suddenly appear on our Macbook screen looking so unfairly glamorous. WE SCREAMED!
Yep, Pejic and Saskia De Brauw put on their acting shoes/stilettos as salacious tabloid-friendly celebrities who turn the ordinary married couple’s suburban lives upside down and into a twisted TMZ nightmare — and in a very Bowie way! It’s creepy, it’s sexy, it’s EVERYTHING WE WANT IN A MUSIC VIDEO. This is our kind of ensemble cast!! Our supermodel BFF seriously gives the legend and Academy Award winner a run for their billions with what we’re gonna go ahead and say will soon be considered an ICONIC performance in an ICONIC work of amazing art.
We are so proud of you babe and can’t wait to hear every single detail about Bowie (What did he eat for lunch? What did he smell like? Was Iman on set? Can you give us his email address? Please?!) and if a spiritual experience occurred in the presence of the holy Swinton spirit. We’re just a Skype call away, boo!
“The stars are never far away, Stars are out tonight…”
