The-Dream Drops Half An Album Today

The-Dream at S.O.B.'s

The-Dream has written and produced music for everyone from Britney Spears and Justin Bieber to Beyoncé. Notably, he wrote Rihanna’s smash hit “Umbrella” back in 2007 before releasing his own album with Def Jam recordings, LoveHate. LoveHate was the epitome of a good R&B record, and I have lots of high school memories singing along to “Shawty Is The Sh*t”. The-Dream’s follow up to the record Love Vs. Money (which narratively picks up where LoveHate leaves off), didn’t disappoint—The-Dream collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and Mariah Carey for tracks “Walkin on The Moon” and “My Love”.

Today, The-Dream is releasing the first half of his album Crown Jewel. This is his first release since his departure from Def Jam, and doesn’t feature as many high profile artists. Here’s to hoping The-Dream will finally provide us with some of those bouncy dance numbers that we’ve been missing since the days of LoveHate and Love Vs. Money.

You can stream the first half of Crown Jewel on Spotify here. Jewel will be available on iTunes on July 10th.
