The 2015 Emmy Awards Were Hot, But These 14 Celebrities Were Hotter
Fall TV programming is kicking off tomorrow, so what better way to say “out with the old and in with the new” than by finally rewarding a handful of actors nominated for work they did at least four months ago. Yes, that’s right, the 2015 Emmy Awards were last night, and while some stars weren’t up for the challenge of dressing to impress, some really knocked our socks off.
Even though Lady Gaga hasn’t technically made her television debut yet, she’s already television’s golden girl of the year. Fox can’t believe they actually got her to agree to do American Horror Story, and neither can we. Presenting at last night’s Emmy Awards, Lady Gaga showed up in a simple, but elegant black, one-shouldered evening gown by her long-time stylist Brandon Maxwell.
Wearing a tux in ninety degree weather is a statement and looking beautiful while doing it is northing short of extraordinary. I’ve always been a sucker for women wearing well-fitted suits, and Carrie couldn’t look classier. Too bad Portlandia didn’t win anything.
When I first met Kiernan Shipka as Mad Men’s little Sally Draper, I kind of hated her. However, over the years, my hatred has blossomed into a loving adoration. Looking at her in head to toe Dior, I feel like a proud babysitter, who’s simultaneously happy to see how far Kiernan has come, and jealous about the fact that she’s 15-years-old and wearing Dior at awards shows.
Aubrey Plaza is my spirit animal, or at least the celebrity strangers always tell me I resemble the most. In my eyes, Aubrey can do no wrong, and last night’s red carpet was no exception. Yes, the red sparkle is a little tacky, but look at that fit! If there’s ever a dress to say, “yes, I lost out on my long-running employment, but look at how hot I am,” it’s this one.
Sarah Hyland isn’t the Dunphy’s little girl anymore, and last night the twenty-four-year-old looked every bit the glamorous bombshell in a form-fitting, off the shoulder number by Zac Posen.
Scandal star Kerry Washington turned heads in a sheer, silver, shimmering gown by Marc Jacobs (that was pulled straight from the designer’s S/S 2016 catwalk, thank you very much). Even out of character, Kerry Washington has so much to teach us all.
Teyonah Parris may not have name recognition yet, but this Mad Men actress looked absolutely stunning in a black-and-white polka doted, beltless, strapless grown that was part retro, but all princess.
Olivia Culpo was so hot at last night, that she almost fainted on live TV. During E!‘s pre-show coverage, Olivia was tasked with playing a game with E! hosts Brad Goreski, Ross Mathews, and the racist big mouth Giuliana Rancic. Sadly for Olivia, she started off struggling, and after saying, “you guys, it’s so hot,” the beauty queen crouched down behind her podium so as not to be caught fainting on national television. Of course, even wheelchair bound, Olivia Culpo still looks like one of the most gorgeous girls in the world. Not fair.
It’s hard to make so much glitter look so classy, but the veteran American Horror Story actress looks spectacular in her Prabal Gurung gown.
Sofia Vergara always looks hot on the red carpet, and last night was no exception. We’ll let you take a slow pan downwards in your own time.
Whenever she’s out of character and unwigged, Lena Headey is practically unrecognizable. Looking absolutely nothing like the bitchy ex-queen of Westeros, Headey wowed in a garnet Zuhair Murad wrap front halter gown which really showed off her post-baby boobs.
Team Emma Roberts now and forever.
and bonus points to Maisie Williams. Her pink, strapless quilted gown may have been a misstep, but her furry shoes were completely on point.
