Inside Sports Illustrated’s NYC Swimsuit Issue Launch
Some of the most gorgeous bombshells in the world gathered in New York City last night to celebrate the newest issue of Sports Illustrated, and we were there to take it all in.
As we counted down the 22 SI swimsuit models while they arrived at the VIP launch event on the 43rd floor of a downtown building, footage of their photo shoots played on giant TVs and waiters passed around hors d’oeuvres and tasty Ciroc cocktails.
The first SI model we encountered was Rose Bertram, who opened up to us about a hilarious story from shooting in Turks and Caicos.
“We were shooting in the ocean and we were losing light because it was getting dark,” she said. “We had to stay in the ocean and I had to pee so bad that I peed in the ocean.”
Okay, we’ve all peed in the ocean — but Rose had a crew of about seven people watching her and since the water was so still and clear, she said they all knew exactly what was going on.
“We had a blast,” she said. “It was really funny.”
Clearly, you can’t tell from the photos:
Nina Agdal also shared a story of a shoot gone wrong — while she was being snapped, also in Turks & Caicos, sea turtles were nipping at her. We’ll let the hilarious Nina tell it in her own words:
“I shot with turtles and I thought it was gonna be a cute little story, a cute picture. I got into the f*cking turtle soup and [the crew] started throwing lettuce in one side of the lake to get the turtles to that side of the lake. I would get into position and they’d throw lettuce to me and they’d come to me. And they started eating my fingers, my hair, my toes. It was so awful because these f*cking turtles are eating your feet and hands and hair. It was awful.”
Here’s Nina with Barbara Palvin last night:

As the night continued, Lily Aldridge, Emily DiDonato, and Nina all took selfies for Galore’s Snapchat while all the bros in the room fanned themselves from the hotness.
The highlight of the red carpet, of course, was when Gigi walked in and continued her tour of NYFW hotness.
Seriously, how is this outfit even physically possible?
Then, the models all streamed out to hop on a plane to Miami together, and NYC went back to being a subzero winter wasteland. But hey, the four hours of pretend-summer we got from the SI models were fun while they lasted.
