Slashes: Photographer/Model/Cellist/Mom

When did you discover your passion for photography?
I always loved photographs, I could stare at images for hours since I was a child especially images from the 50s. When I started modeling I really got into photography.

Did your work as model help you develop as a photographer?
Yes, totally. I was very observant during shoots. Richard Goldstein was a photographer I worked with as a model that gave me so much helpful advice and really inspired me to do something major.

Who do you look up to in the industry?
Paul Marciano has been an inspiration for me since I was a young teenager…I always loved the images of Guess. I am very grateful for my work with Guess and the kindness and support Paul showed me.

Who would you love to shoot?
Angelina Jolie. Besides being one of the most beautiful women on the planet she also seems like an amazing person who’s done so much in her humanitarian efforts. I really love that…love people with genuine kindness.

Did you go to the school for photography? Do you feel this is an important step in becoming a professional?
No, I didn’t but I went to a really great art school for drawing, The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, that art direction really helped me in my photography. I don’t think it’s an important step to go to school for photography, but it is important to study your craft.

What inspires you?

What is your favorite part of your job?
Making people feel beautiful.

Do you have any advice for an aspiring photographer? Aspiring model?
If it’s your passion never give up. No matter how hard or impossible it may seem. You really can make your dreams come true. I could say it takes years of hard work and dedication, but really all it takes is believing in yourself and you’ll take the necessary steps to manifest whatever it is you want.

What is your favorite thing in pop culture right now? (ex: tv show, music, podcast, artist, book, website, etc.)
I tend to stay away from what the masses are into these days…I love learning new things so I’m always reading a few books.

What is your spirit animal?
