I was born in Lodi, California but was raised in St Petersburg Florida.. I usually just tell people that I’m from Florida being that all of my crucial growing up years happened there.

Tell us a bit about your journey upwards

It’s been a long one! I’ve always been working towards having a career in music.. There was never room for another way to spend my life. I have had so many experiences, painful and blissful, but I like to think that those times where I struggled. Whether it was getting a single friend out to a show for an empty room or having someone tell me I was doing it all wrong.. I like to think it was those painful experiences that shaped me and added meat onto my bones. It was those experiences that taught me to believe in myself and not give up and eventually you wind up exactly where you were meant to be.

How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as melting of both my sweet and sour sides as well as influences. Sometimes my music comes across as smooth and soft and then you turn a corner and hit a hard edge.. A bit of gravel perhaps.

What have been some of your best moments?

There have been so many incredible moments. I’m not sure where to start with them but maybe one of my favorites was playing Paris for the first time last November to a sold out crowd and not recognizing any of the faces, but a lot of the crowd knew the words to my songs! I still remember begging my friends to come to my shows not that many years ago…what a trip!
How excited are you about your record being released in Europe?

It has been incredible watching BANSHEE get all this brand new love over in Europe.. Writing that album was such a milestone in my life and so now to see such a great reaction across the pond sometime later is really a great feeling.

Have you toured Europe before? What are some of your favorite places and where are the hottest dudes?

I played a few shows in Europe last November and I was so busy that I didn’t get to see much more than a hotel room.. I had a great relationship with my pillow during that run..

Who would you love to work with?

I would love to work with Outkast… I have been a longtime fan of those guys and now I hear they are getting back together… Man- they wrote some incredible albums..

Who are your influences?

My influences are constantly expanding.. At this current moment i’ve been listening to a lot of movie scores.. I love the way sound can create an entire mood for the way you feel about something! This last month I’ve been digging into Italian Spaghetti Western scores.

What’s coming up next for you?

I’m on tour for the month of February in Europe in support of BANSHEE! Lots and lots of shows and promo then I head back home to New York to work on the next album!
