Some Shady Sh*t Is Going On With Lady Gaga’s Halftime Show
Remember the outrage last year after Beyoncé’s Super Bowl Half-time Show? Beyoncé’s performance was loaded with messages about police brutality, and she never shied away from making a statement regardless of how much football fans might hate her for it.
Well, it looks like in order to avoid the same controversy, the NFL might have warned Lady Gaga (who is this year’s halftime performer) to completely avoid talking politics or the election during her show.
This news came via Entertainment Tonight who reported “sources close to the halftime show” told them Gaga was warned about mentioning the T word and politics.
However, the NFL claims that never even happened and is just “unsourced nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none,” according to the Washington Post.
But here’s the thing: there is already controversy. More than half the country voted against Donald Trump. People are still livid and have strong feelings about the election. The halftime show reaches a larger audience than most political debates do, so this would be the perfect space for Gaga to express all of our feelings for the rest of the world to see.
And if she decides to take the political route, this def wouldn’t be the first time a performance has gone off the rails.
M.I.A. flipped off the camera during the 2012 Halftime show, Janet Jackson’s nipple was completely exposed during the 2004 Halftime show and Beyoncé basically dressed like a Black Panther last year. A low-key protest is nothing new.

Gaga was definitely one of the most vocal celebs during the election, so it would make sense that they might have a fear about a politically charged performance. She even staged a protest outside of Trump Tower in NYC after Trump was voted into office, making her opinions super clear.
She also quite memorably spoke at several of Hillary Clinton’s rallies, including this one that caused quite a stir due to her Nazi-like her outfit choice.
Even though we hope she does, regardless of whether or not she decides to get political, we’re super pumped for her performance.
There’s still hope that Gaga could make a statement or incorporate a message into her performance. If there was ever a perfect time for her to publicly take a stand against Trump, this would be it.
