Teacher Takes Students On Sex Shop Field Trip
Teaching kids about sex can be hard, so one teacher in Minneapolis decided to take her class on a little field trip to let a professional do the dirty work for her. Starri Hedges, director and resident sex expert of Gaia Democratic School, a private K-12 school with an incredibly small student body population (est. 50), took her one dozen students to the Smitten Kitten to cap their month-long sex education class. In addition to selling the usual array of dildos, candy thongs, and other vibrating curiosities, Smitten Kitten provides educational workshops for sexually curious Midwesterners.
Although parents were outraged and called the field trip a “major breach of trust,” Hedges said that the outing was “beautiful because kids could talk to these sex educators without any shame, and without any fear.” Some of her students were so moved by what they learned at the Smitten Kitten that they purchased condoms. What a good day to not have played hooky.
