This Calculator Lets You Decode Your Sex Number
Slate has created a Sex History Calculator that allows you to compare the number of sexual partners you’ve had to that of your peers. Simply tell the calculator your sex, age, and number of partners, and the calculator will put you into a percentile based on the numbers you’ve given it.
The calculator uses data collected from 13,000 survey respondents from the General Social Survey between 2006 and 2014.
So what’s the point of using the calculator? Well, some of you might be interested in seeing a statistic distribution of the number of partners people in your age range have slept with in order to determine how ‘normal’ you are. However, it’s important to remember, no matter what your ‘number’ is, the number of sexual partners you’ve had (or haven’t had) is not a reflection of your own self worth.
So go ahead, have fun playing with the calculator (full disclosure, I tried typing in my number and changing my sex and thought the percentile difference was very interesting), but don’t let it make you feel bad about yourself.
