5 Fantastic Beauty Tips We’re Stealing From Scream Queens’ Emma Roberts

We’ve already lusted over her Scream Queens character Chanel Oberlin’s wardrobe, but today, Emma Roberts spilled her very own beauty tips to the New York Times. She’s just as beauty obsessed as we would expect Chanel to be, but way more low-key. Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights from her beauty chat, from cult favorites to ancient Chinese medicine.

Masks: She cites a Ren mask as her favorite, but loves a good sheet mask. “I’ve done those sheet masks in front of boyfriends and scared the crap out of them. I don’t get embarrassed in the name of beauty,” says Roberts, and we agree, nothing should trump good skin, not even your dude’s sanity.

Acupuncture + dry brushing: Although she says she hasn’t really noticed a difference, Roberts says she picked up dry brushing after she kept seeing models talk about it. Touted as an easy method to aid detoxifying, exfoliation, and reduce the appearance of cellulite, dry brushing is something we might steal from her routine and add to ours. Since filming in New Orleans, Emma Roberts has also started acupuncture. “I’ve noticed such a difference: It centers me, and I feel like it gets the blood flowing. Here we work, like, 12 to 15 hours a day, and you get really drained.” Well, if that’s true then we might just be trading in our normal spa days for getting poked with needles.

The Beauty Blender + minimal make-up on days off: “Some days when I’m not working, I might do nothing. I just wear a pair of big sunglasses as my makeup. I’m not big on doing liner or shadow or a harsh lipstick during the day”, keeping in line with this no-fuss approach, the makeup she wears, if any consists of concealer and a brow gel. She also is a huge fan of the cult status Beauty blender, a pink sponge, known for is blending capabilities to create a flawless complexion. Roberts apparently can’t live without it, that and great shades of red lipstick.

Traditional Manicures over Gels: Regular polish, in a denim blue shade is what Roberts is into at the moment, “I got gel a couple of times, but when they file them off, it really freaked me out.”. And rightfully so, while gels last longer they can be more damaging to nails. Her day off filming routine of getting a coffee, getting her nails done, and working out seems like a great excuse to go to the nail salon more often.

No diets and Pilates to keep fit: Robert’s stance on food: I try to be healthy, but I will have dessert. I always have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Swedish Fish on set because I have to have something to look forward to. I’m not into gluten-free or diets like that. I do try to vary what I’m eating, though.”, and exercise: “I am not a running person. Everyone laughs at me because my legs turn out when I run. I look absolutely ridiculous. I stopped running in seventh grade. But on our days off, Lea Michele — she’s also in “Scream Queens” — and I will go do Pilates together,” are definitely both things we can relate to.
