What inspired you to start your own business?
I’ve been in the fashion business for a long time and know a lot about the constant ups and downs, the stress and the wins. I joined People’s Revolution in 2006, a PR & Production agency founded by CEO Kelly Cutrone in 1995 and am now President at the company. I also recently started a new business under the umbrella of People’s Rev, partnering with Kelly Cutrone & Stefanie Skinner on a new Social Media & Digital PR/Consulting firm which we are launching soon, called Socially Acclaimed. I have a lot of freedom in my job and have no interest in the corporate world. If I want to take off to Minnesota on a summer Friday afternoon for the weekend, I can do that! At my job, I interweave with both the corporate and indie worlds on a daily basis and love that no day is ever the same.

Who are some strong female role models who have inspired you?
The first two designers that I worked for in the PR world were Vivienne Westwood, followed by Betsey Johnson, both of whom were extremely inspiring to me as strong and influential women in the fashion world who made a name for themselves. I especially loved that Betsey’s whole company at the time was run by executive women who had a lot of power. That is also where I met my first PR boss Ali Taekman, who was a great role model for me and who I first learned about seating charts from! I also grew up with a lot of strong and inspirational women around me, including my mom, grandmas & stepmom. My grandma Dode is not only a strong lady you would not want to mess with, but also has great style and taught me how to sew and make clothing. I wore many of her handmade dresses growing up!

The word bitch can be empowering yet demeaning, what is your take on it?
I love a double entendre. I think bitch is a great word, as long as you own it!

What motto do you live by?
Work Hard. Play Hard. Relax Hard.
