Our 4 Songs for the Summer
What do Iggy Azalea, Michael Jackson and Clueless all have in common? The annual battle for the song of the summer. Last year’s “Get Lucky” seemingly came out of nowhere. Featuring a robot pairing who hadn’t been seen since the 90’s and the then little known Pharell, “Get Lucky” surpassed Miley, Katy and 1D to become everyone’s favorite nightclub jam months June-August. This year the current favorites are just as (relatively) obscure. A posthumous pop prince, an Australian white rapper and Disney starlet all hold their own with shockingly quality numbers. And then of course there is the brand new male music assembly of American Authors who’s “Best Day of My Life” single is everything Summer should be: upbeat, sunny and carefree. Who do you think will win out this year?
Problem by Arianna Grande ft. Iggy Azalea
This single features an unlikely combo of Disney innocence, female rap lyrics and 1960’s stylings. We can’t help, we love it anyway.
Fancy by Iggy Azalea ft. Charlie XCX
With its Clueless music video them and its hilariously catchy rap lyrics, this video has risen through the ranks to become the number one Bilboard hot track.
Love Never Felt So Good by Michael Jackson ft Justin Timberlake
The star power on this one is unmistakable. A fallen pop icon, a modern day music star and an adorable tribute video? It has all the trappings of a classic.
Best Day of My Life by American Authors
Count this one as the underdog, but we can’t help but love the positivity of this Freshman hit single. Don’t count them out of the running yet.
