Niki And The Dove Talk Music And Style Influences
Where does the name Niki and the Dove come from?
We like to keep it to ourselves, but we can tell you this much-it has to do with symbols and a spanish poet.
Who are your musical influences?
We are the result of everything we have been listening to throughout the years.
For us, we find influences in other art forms. Very much from paintings, and also from the environmental space, what surrounds us in the moment.
Who are your style icons?
Diana Ross, Phil Lynott and the Eames’s.
What is your favorite song on your new record?
It changes constantly when you’re on tour, you know…right now I would say my favourites are ‘Winterheart’ and ‘The Drummer’.
What city are you most excited to play in this year?
You know, for us it’s a dream come true to be able to tour from the eastcoast to the westcoast in the US, to get to see a bit of Canada…To travel, sleep in a new city every night, to get to see all those places. That’s the dream.
Where did you guys meet?
We met in Gothenburg and became friends, it wasn’t until years later we decided to form a band, though.
What is next for Niki and The Dove in 2013?
First and foremost to write new music. We’re eager to become antisocial again, locked up in different studios.
Favorite female bombshell of all time?
What is your routine before a show?
To reveal The-secret-word-of-today.
