Blogger Mimi Elashiry Embodies The Slash Generation
If you don’t already know Mimi Elashiry, now is the time to get acquainted. As a model, dancer, blogger, poet and avid photographer, she truly embodies this new slash generation! Check out our interview with the kind-hearted babe below:
How were you discovered?
I feel like I wasn’t…. I’m not even sure. I’ve found my way into this weird and wonderful industry by just being myself… standing my ground, and making sure that whatever I portray or promote is a direct translation of my own personality and spirit. I feel like people connect with that, and it is thanks to my audience for where I am today – the many young girls in particular that are so intrigued by my quirks and interested in my lifestyle.
You are the ultimate slash girl – poet, blogger, and model. Tell us a bit more about all!
I feel like everyone is a blogger these days… I almost don’t want to call myself one. Really I just want to share with people my thoughts, and the world through my lens. I want to inspire people to lead a healthier and happier life… dress how you feel.. wear no shoes if they don’t match (sometimes I even go to the shops in Sydney without shoes)… I don’t know! I just want to share everything I do with the world because there are so many amazing people, brands, cafes, waterfalls, beaches, mountains, festivals and events…
What inspires you to write?
Everything. I am inspired by everywhere I go for the most part. I jot things down wherever I go in my diary and then whenever you hop on a plane suddenly being high in the sky creates this buzz inside me where I just have to pour out the innermost workings of my mind… I stare out the window at the vast landscapes, the ocean, the clouds… and something about that just triggers my mind to write and write and write at the speed of light… I love flying.
You are really into precious stones. What stone is your favorite?
Ooooh that’s a hard one! I wear my giant Quartz necklace everyday, I feel naked without it. It definitely holds a lot of my energy and I feel something.. I’m not sure what – but something special and very internal when I wear it. However, I feel like I am always drawn to tourmaline. It hangs above my bed… it’s really good for protections and I also carry a small piece around in whatever bag I have with me each day. Seems silly, but it’s just something I like to do.
What is next for you in 2015?
I am super excited to move to LA for a while… like very, very excited. I can’t wait to get back into dancing and just explore everything the states has to offer… I’m speechless. Just so excited! I’m also really excited to spend a lot of time in Bali again around the middle of the year. I love just being able to drink coconuts and go to yoga 3 times a day, switch off… it’s paradise. I don’t really know what 2015 has in store for me so I can’t say… but I know it’s going to be a roller coaster ride. I love roller coasters…
