Meet Lyla Foy: London’s Latest Sweet Sound
We caught up and coming singer/songwriter Lyla Foy and talked about her dope sound and her inspiration behind her debut album Mirrors the Sky. Also if you’re in Europe, definitely check out her tour dates below!
Where are you from?
When did you realise music was what you wanted to do?
It wasn’t a conscious decision one day, I just enjoy writing music and pop songs worked for me, mainly because of the three minute format.
What’s been the greatest highlight so far?
There have been a few, but I’ll go with touring in Europe. The drives are ace, and I like turning up in a city for the first time and playing some tunes.
The new album, why the name Mirrors the Sky?
I like the imagery of water and light. The combination of rough and calm represent projected peace and inner turmoil.
What inspired the LP?
I’m inspired by stories I read and personal experiences. I like to mix up the two.
Who would you love to work with?
I’d like to write a song with John Grant.
Where would you love to play?
What’s coming up next?
I’m touring for the next couple of months, and then we’re playing festivals this summer!
