Little Big Turned “Skibidi” Into a Dictionary-Approved Viral Milestone and Releases New Hard Dance Cut
Composing a viral song is neither simple nor random, though it could be considered a stroke of luck; however, achieving the fact that a term born from that song is later included in the Cambridge Dictionary completely rules out destiny or chance as the cause, turning the event into something truly revolutionary.
That’s what the band Little Big accomplished with “Skibidi,” an absurd yet extremely catchy track that took over social media and earned English a new adjective recognized by the academy, one that “can have different meanings, such as ‘cool’ or ‘bad,’ or can be used with no real meaning as a joke.”

Originally from Saint Petersburg, the band employs satire and absurdity to portray modern society, with such mastery that the listener quickly picks up on the hidden message within their songs and the visual material that supports them.
The music group is led by vocalist Ilya “Ilich” Prusikin, later joined by singer Sonya Tayurskaya. They currently have a devoted audience that sees in them the perfect blend of humor, music, and intelligent criticism disguised as lightness, an artistic ingredient deeply valued and one that has led them to collaborate with artists such as Oliver Tree, Tommy Cash, Finch Asozial, Dillon Francis, Clean Bandit, Lil Texas, and even Sacha Baron Cohen.
But no triumph has been as definitive as the birth of “Skibidi.” The word was invented by Little Big in 2018, long before the internet generated late reinterpretations, expansive memes, or the Skibidi Toilet phenomenon. The band not only created the song; they conceived the concept, the sound, the gesture, the dance, and the universe that sustains it.
The impact was immediate. The official video, loaded with deliberate absurdity and a dance designed to be impossible to forget, accumulated more than 781 million views, sparked the #SkibidiChallenge on TikTok and Instagram, and fueled thousands of imitations around the globe. That explosion turned “Skibidi” into a universal symbol of the chaotic energy of the internet.
The success was neither an accident nor an isolated anomaly. Little Big has built a catalog that has surpassed 3 billion views, featuring hits like “FARADENZA,” “HYPNODANCER,” “I’M OK,” and “UNO,” the latter of which was crowned as the most-watched video in Eurovision history, with over 299 million views. The band understands virality, but they also appreciate the art behind what goes viral; the rhythm, the irony, and the precise gesture that sets the screen on fire.
In 2022, after openly expressing their opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the group moved to Los Angeles. From there, they continue to create, challenge, and break molds with the same irreverence that led them to invent a word that now appears in the Cambridge Dictionary. “Skibidi” stopped being just a song and became a cultural phenomenon, a term adopted by the academy, and a reminder that sometimes revolution begins with a meaningless sound no one can get out of their head.
