Kendall And Kylie Jenner Are Trying To Make UGGs Cool Again
Look, there’s nobody more obsessed with keeping up with the two youngest members of the Kardashian clan, but I have some very grave, and potentially very upsetting news to tell you: Kendall and Kylie Jenner are trying to make UGGs cool again.
And yes, I mean the same UGG boots that you wore around the house in middle school even though you knew they looked really ugly because if Paris Hilton was wearing them, they couldn’t be so bad after all, right?
Yesterday, Kendall and Kylie Jenner decided to take a break from their busy lives (Kendall: making her debut in the VS Fashion Show, Kylie: launching the H&M Balmain collection and celebrating momager Kris Jenner’s birthday) and chose to devote an entire afternoon to their newest pet project: bringing back their favorite throwback fashion trend.
Cue the ominous, dramatic ‘duh duh duh’ music.
While I’ll be the first to admit that the biggest thing I miss about my last roommate was getting to slip on her UGG boots for my bi-weekly hangover-infused trip to the bodega across the street, I would never be caught dead wearing them out of the neighborhood. Let alone in Soho, where Kendall and Kylie Jenner most certainly were.
Plus, dare I even say it, aren’t UGGs like a textbook sign of being a basic bitch? Along with Lululemon leggings, a nice button down from J. Crew, and a Pumpkin Spice latte in hand?
Clearly something must be going on because Kendall and Kylie Jenner are many things, but basic isn’t really one of them.
This is Kendall Jenner BEFORE she went into the UGG Store:
See the oversized, floppy black beanie? See the expensive, gold tipped thigh-high boots? Fabulous, right?
This is Kendall Jenner AFTER shopping at the UGG store:
Interesting. And where did the Starbucks drink come from? Did it come with the shoes and the hat? (UPDATE: There’s a Starbucks in the UGGs store. While I want to hate on that, I not-so-secretly love it when clothing stores have a coffee shop attached.)
Although, maybe there’s just something I’m missing about UGGs. After all, when paired with matching Moschino sweats, do UGGs really look so bad after all?
And here’s her taking to Instagram to tell the world how much she loved her “chill day in my new UGG Classic Slim Bethany’s”.
Maybe my problem is that as much as I like to think I’m open enough to just love the things I love, it’s clear that I’m still holding on to the stigma of guilty pleasures. But I’m 26 now – maybe it’s time to let all of that go and just say yes to the UGGs.
